No child should have to face cancer, and no family should have to face the journey alone.

The Greater Butts County Lions Club proudly supports the Lions International global cause of childhood cancer, joining Lions around the world in helping children and families affected by this devastating disease.

Lions International focuses its childhood cancer service on supporting children and families, helping organizations and treatment facilities, increasing awareness and education, and improving access to needed services.

A childhood cancer diagnosis affects much more than one child. Parents, brothers and sisters, grandparents, friends and entire communities are affected.

Families may spend weeks or months traveling to appointments, receiving treatments and adjusting their lives around the needs of their child. During these difficult times, knowing that others care can make a meaningful difference.

Lions and Leos around the world serve these families by supporting childhood cancer organizations and treatment facilities, raising awareness, helping expand access to services and creating projects that improve the quality of life for children undergoing treatment.

Here at home, the Greater Butts County Lions Club believes our community can be part of the fight against childhood cancer.

Through fundraising events, community partnerships, awareness efforts and the generosity of our neighbors, we work to support the larger Lions mission of giving children facing cancer hope for a brighter tomorrow.

One of our signature efforts is Tee Off Against Childhood Cancer, bringing golfers, sponsors, businesses and community members together for a day of fellowship and service while raising support for the fight against childhood cancer.

Every golfer who participates, every business that sponsors, every volunteer who gives their time and every person who contributes becomes part of that mission.

Lions Clubs International Foundation also provides Childhood Cancer Grants designed to help Lions improve the quality of life for children receiving cancer treatment and their families. Recent Lions projects have included assistance to treatment facilities, equipment and infrastructure improvements, family support and partnerships that strengthen pediatric cancer care.

Through its partnership with Global HOPE, Lions Clubs International Foundation has also worked to expand access to childhood cancer treatment and strengthen healthcare systems in areas where children have historically had less access to specialized cancer care.

The gold ribbon is widely used to represent childhood cancer awareness. For us, it is also a reminder of the courage of children undergoing treatment, the strength of their families and the importance of communities standing beside them.

When you see gold, remember the children who are fighting.

Remember their families.

And remember that each of us has an opportunity to help.

The Greater Butts County Lions Club is made up of neighbors helping neighbors. Childhood cancer may be a global challenge, but making a difference begins locally—with people willing to care, serve and take action.
